PLANNING

Plan groups that actually balance

Switchback learns each rider's level from attendance and ride feedback, then suggests balanced practice groups — so no leader is stuck with fifteen riders and no group is left short.

  • Skill-based grouping — suggested moves you can accept or adjust
  • Coverage rules — set a min and max number of ride leaders per group
  • See every group and drag a rider between them in one view
The ride-group board — riders sorted into A, B and C groups, with a coaches-only group hidden from riders.

PLANNING

Build structured workouts

Lay out interval blocks and repeats, set the effort for each, and watch the effort profile draw itself as you go. Publish the plan to the practice, or export it as a PDF to hand out at the trailhead.

  • Drag interval blocks and REPEAT groups into place
  • A live effort-profile chart updates as you edit
  • Publish to the practice Plan tab or download a PDF
The workout builder — a “Threshold 5×3” session with its live effort-profile chart above the block editor.

SCHEDULING

Schedule a whole season

Set up recurring weekday practices and drop in race weekends once — Switchback fills the calendar. Riders and parents subscribe once and every change shows up in their own calendar app.

  • A recurrence builder for weekly practices and race weekends
  • A personal calendar that merges every team a rider is on
  • Subscribe from Apple or Google Calendar with one feed link

ON THE DAY

One-tap RSVP, live attendance

Riders say they're coming with a single tap on their phone, and add a note if they'll be late. On the day, leaders check riders in and everyone marking attendance sees the same live count.

  • Yes / No RSVP with an optional comment
  • Coaches see who's in and who's out at a glance
  • Day-of attendance updates live across every leader's phone

COMMUNICATION

Reach the right people

Message a single group, a chat channel, or a saved filter — and Switchback delivers it as email, an in-app notification, and a phone push all at once, with a live count of exactly who will get it.

  • Team chat with @mentions and reactions
  • Target a group, channel, or saved roster filter
  • Delivered by email, in-app, and phone push together
The broadcast composer — a race-day announcement going out to the team by email and in-app, with guardians copied.

BUILT FOR YOUTH TEAMS

Keep families in the loop

Parents link to their rider to follow the practice schedule — and with Browse as rider, one tap shows them the app exactly as their rider sees it. Coaches keep the medical card — allergies, medications, and emergency contacts — one tap away at the trailhead.

  • Browse as rider — parents see exactly what their rider sees
  • Medical card and emergency contacts, always current for coaches
  • Riders make up a missed practice by submitting a Strava ride for credit
A parent's guardian view — their rider's emergency contacts and medical card, visible to coaches and ride leaders too.

HOW IT COMPARES

What you get that the other apps don't

Where this comes from

Checked 11 August 2026. Switchback's column is checked against what is actually shipped, which is why the dues row is a cross. A cross in another column means the feature is not described in that product's own documentation — not that it cannot be done — and the numbered marks link to the specific page behind a qualified claim.

Crosses were checked against: TeamSnap (1), Spond (5), Pit Zone (7).
